Financial Accounting Expert

To help us achieve this, we’re looking for a Financial Accounting Expert to join our Financial Transaction Platforms (FTP) team.

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely financial processes for Stichting Open Doors International (ODI) and affiliated entities. Your responsibilities will include supporting monthly and year-end closings, assisting with annual financial statements and audits, and acting as a backup for the American ODI office when needed. You will review and authorize transactions, maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and vendors, and support compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Additionally, you will help oversee insurance matters and provide backup for payroll and treasury. You will be part of a committed and professional team, working closely with the Head of FTP and other finance experts to ensure our ministry operates with excellence and accountability.

Your key responsibilities

• Supporting monthly and year-end closing of the accounts of Stichting Open Doors International and affiliated entities.
• Assisting with the preparation of the annual financial statements for the Dutch office and discussing these with the Head of FTP and Financial Expert.
• Assisting with reviewing and authorizing financial transactions including staff expenses, supplier invoices, bank reconciliations, and accounts payables and receivables.
• Supporting regulatory and legal aspects as they arise including tax audits, VAT reviews, chamber of commerce compliance, and initiating updates when necessary.
• Maintaining good relations and cooperating with clients such as banks, external auditors, tax advisors and vendors.
• Acting as back-up for the American office and Dutch payroll and treasury functions.

Your profile

• You are a committed Christian with a passion for the Persecuted Church.
• You have a formal accounting qualification or bring hands on experience in Accounting or a similar role.
• You preferably have experience in the not-for-profit sector.
• You are strategic and analytical, with attention to detail.
• You quickly adjust to meet the needs of the Dutch, American and other international offices.
• You are able to influence, build and manage relationships.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch, and are able to communicate effectively across different cultures.
• You are open to international travel and can work flexible hours during peak periods.

Our offer

We offer you a versatile position in an international environment, a professional team and the opportunity to show your added value. Your gross monthly fulltime salary will be between € 3.100 and € 4.250 (NL salary), depending on your knowledge and experience. This position is based in Harderwijk, the Netherlands. We offer flexible hybrid/remote working options
